North Starr Inspections is qualified to perform MOLD Air Quality Testing (Fungal and Particulate Identification) and MOLD Swab Testing (Qualitative and Quantitative) which are 2 different things. Sometimes there is MOLD in the air and although you can't see it, you still could be breathing it in! That's where the MOLD AIR QUALITY TEST comes in. At other times, you might be able to actually see an area that looks like MOLD, and that's where we would take MOLD SWAB SAMPLES from to be tested. When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings or on materials, mold growth will often occur. It's impossible to eliminate all the mold spores in an indoor environment, as mold spores can also waft in continually though the indoor and outdoor air. North Starr is also authorized to perform ASBESTOS Testing (In-Air and/or Bulk Samples). Asbestos has been used for a wide range of manufactured goods, mostly in building materials (roofing shingles, ceiling and floor tiles, paper products, and asbestos cement products), friction products (automobile clutch, brake, and transmission parts), heat-resistant fabrics, packaging, gaskets, and coatings. When asbestos-containing materials are damaged or disturbed by repair, remodeling or demolition activities, microscopic fibers become airborne and can be inhaled into the lungs, where they can cause significant health problems. ​North Starr is qualified to perform LEAD Testing (In-Air and/or Bulk Samples with paint chips, dust wipes, soil, waste water, and drinking water). Old lead-based paint is the most significant source of lead exposure in the U.S. today. Harmful exposures to lead can be created when lead-based paint is improperly removed from surfaces by dry scraping, sanding, or open-flame burning. There are many ways in which humans can be exposed to lead: through air, drinking water, food, contaminated soil, deteriorating paint, and dust. Airborne lead enters the body when an individual breathes or swallows lead particles or dust once it has settled.
